Hospital required regulations

Hospital regulations require a wheelchair for most patients when they’re being discharged. However, this girl working as a student nurse found one elderly gentleman — already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase as his feet — who insisted he didn’t need her help to leave the hospital.

After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let the nurse wheel him to the elevator. On the way down, she asked if his wife was meeting him.

“I don’t know,” he said. “I think she’s still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown.”

The hospital  was an eye opening experience! LOl.

Sleeping with Strangers

Arriving back in my hospital room after surgery, I was enjoying the benefits of morphine, and anti-nausea medications. And nothing could keep me awake for the first two days. However on the third day I was awaken by a miss happy pants at 6:30 am and told the Urology floor of the hospital was overflowing. And because of the crowding problem my room become coed. My next two roommates would be gentlemen!

 I felt a little uneasy about the crooked curtain which hung wide open. When I mentioned it to the nurse, she whipped out of her pocket surgical tape to hold it together. I now have a whole new respect for surgical tape, it kept the curtains together my whole hospital stay. They call it is the nurses duct tape, it can fix anything, including broken fingernails. Who knew? I was so thrilled to get a roll when I went home.

In the next few days I learned more about the urinary track of both the female and male anatomy. I’m positive it was more then I needed to know.  It was way to enlightening. Lol. And I have never seen nurses get so excited for their patients when they pass gas or used the restroom. Honestly, the high-fiving and happy dancing around the room was hysterically infectious.  What a delight and blessing to have two caring and encouraging young nurses who brought both laughter and joy to my room every day.

Lying in the hospital and recovering at home I have had time to do some reflecting. When life slows down for me I have better focus and clarity of what is important to me.  I am constantly in awe of God’s caring love in the little love lessons he teaches me daily. I am humbled by the caring hearts of friends, family and others who have faithfully prayed for me, even when I felt down and didn’t know how much I needed them.  God has a wonderful way of letting us know He cares and loves us more than we can even imagine. The Bible says in,

Ephesians 3:20

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us.

God always sees the Big Picture of our lives, and knows just what we need and where I am.  I am not a stranger to Him.  Thank you for letting me share this journey with you, I love you!

The Accidental Motorist

I need my Insurance Company quick!

There are two sides to every story when accident-prone drivers fill out insurance claims. The following explanations were taken from actual insurance forms.

“But, officer…”

• Coming home, I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don’t have.
• The other car collided with mine without giving warning of its intentions.
• The pedestrian had no idea which way to run, so I ran over him.
• I collided with a stationary truck coming the other way.
• A truck backed through my windshield into my wife’s face.
• A Pedestrian hit me and went under my car.
• The guy was all over the road; I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.
• In my attempt to kill a fly, I drove into a telephone pole.
• I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced at my mother-in-law and headed over the embankment.
• I had been driving for 40 years when I fell asleep at the wheel and had an accident.

• To avoid hitting the bumper of the car in front of me, I hit the pedestrian.
• My car was legally parked as it backed into the other car.
• An invisible cat came out of nowhere, struck my car, and vanished.
• I told the police that I was not injured but on removing my hat I found that I had fractured my skull.
• I thought my window was down but I found out that it was up when I put my head through it.
• I saw a slow moving, sad-faced old man as he bounced off the roof of my car.
• The indirect cause of the accident was a little guy in a small car with a big mouth.
• I was thrown from the car as it left the road. I was later found in a ditch by some stray cows.
• The telephone pole was approaching. I was attempting to swerve out of its way when it struck the front end of my car.
• I was on the way to the doctor with rear-end trouble when my universal joint gave way causing me to have an accident.
• I was unable to stop in time and my car crashed into the other vehicle. The driver and passengers then left immediately for a vacation with injuries.                                                                                               By: Steven Dohanos ~Toronto Sun

“Friends are like pillars on the porch: Sometimes they hold you up and sometimes they lean on you.”

It is such a delight and privilege to share each week with you, I call my friends. I thought I would share what is happening in my life this last month.  As many of you know I have been struggling with pain after my fall, and the doctors have been trying to find the cause.  Last week after reviewing an ultrasound they sent me for a CT scan and found a mass.  I will be going for surgery possibly next week.  I would ask that you remember me in prayer this month and I will keep you up–to-date.

Even this week God is showing me His love, comfort and how His timing is perfect in all things.  In a matter of days I have been able to get an appointment with a specialist and surgeon, which I know is under God’s guidance and control. 

I know God’s plans are perfect and with each plan He has a purpose.  And when God has a purpose for our lives He gives us promises too.  

2 Corinthians 12:9 (ERV)

But the Lord said, “My grace is all you need. Only when you are weak can everything be done completely by my power.” So I will gladly boast about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can stay in me.

The Friends We Love

When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend, and then I started to become a woman. And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up, God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend is needed when you’re going through things with your man. Another friend is needed when you’re going through things with your mom.  Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.

One friend will say, “Let’s cry together,” another, “Let’s fight together,” another, “Let’s walk away together.”

One friend will meet your spiritual need, another your shoe fetish, another your love for movies, another will be with you in your season of confusion, another will be your clarifier, another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion, on whatever the day, or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back,  or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself  … those are your best friends.

It may all be wrapped up in one woman, but for many, it’s wrapped up in several… one from 7th grade, one from high school, several from the college years, a couple from old jobs, on some days your mother, on some days your neighbor, on others, your sisters, and on some days, your daughters.

So whether they’ve been there 20 minutes or 20 years, you are blessed.   God has placed these women in your life to love, encourage and help you make a difference. ~ Author unknown

The Bible says:

This is how we know what love is, Jesus Christ laid down his life for us, greater love hath no man than this that a man  lays down his friends.  

Where would we be without those dear sisters we call Girlfriends.  The ones we laugh with, cry with, and shop with.  Our mother’s, sisters and friends who encourage, teach, and help us to become better women.  

When I hit a wall, I became overwhelmed, and start looking at all the circumstances and stress in my life, I forgot about all the good things. My cup becomes half-empty, instead of full. As I had time to meditate and look back, I realized how God has led me with His love and faithfulness over the years. Jesus Christ, is my dearest friend, I could not imagine life without his peace, love and protection. He is all I need, He enough.
