Blonde Days at the Gym

yoga-SP

For years, my daughter and I faithfully watched a certain exercise diva on television. Imagine our excited when we learned she would be making a visit to our town, and appearing at the local Gym. The advertisement invited everyone to come, meet her, ask questions, and spend a few hours joining her in one of her famous workouts. Although we were beginners, we decided to join the excitement and learn some new exercise techniques.

Always wanting to dress properly for any occasion, I decided to wear legging, an oversize t-shirt (to cover any bulges) and a headband so people would think I was a genuine exerciser. My daughter wore her shorts and a cute top; I thought we looked like an ordinary twosome going to the gym.

I Don’t Need Directions!

Silicon Valley Highway 101 Traffic Hell

After the long winters, spring is the time we start planning our vacations and extra traveling. My husband does not ask for directions, he thinks if he keeps driving we will eventually get there. While, I have been known to roll the window down at a stop light, and holler at the person next to me about directions. (Which happened in Amsterdam, as I was inquiring about directions with the lady next to us, the light changed, we took off down the road, the lady hung out the window of her car and handed me her map, waved and was gone.) My husband was so embarrassed, “ I could have found it.” He said, I assured him that our vacation was not that long!!!

Have you ever wondered why men and women are so different in taking and giving directions?

If a man gives directions, it goes like this; Go three miles, turn left, go seven miles, turn right, then go a quarter of a mile and you will see it on your right, you can’t miss it! Now I am blonde and a creative thinker is there a three-mile sign, how will I know? With these directions I could end up in someone’s cow pasture, never to be seen again.

I drive by landmarks, go to Wal-Mart, turn left, go down to the Tasty Freeze, and turn right. Drive to Hollywood Video, turn into parking lot, the place is right next to the shoe store that is having a huge sale, 70% off. You can’t miss it. (Now that is my kind of directions)

Thankfully we decided to get a GPS for the car, saves Lyle and I a lot of time, him from driving all over the country trying to find an address, and me from getting lost. However, in my creative moments I have been known, to second guess the GPS system, and go a different way because, it didn’t look right to me. Only to get lost, have the satellite locate and get me back on track.

It gives me great security and peace in my life to know that I am never off of God’s GPS system. He always knows where I am, and even if I wander off, he has his eye on me. ©     The bible says in, Psalm 139:1-6 A psalm of David

O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!

His loving care sustains, guides, and protects me; I just need to follow his directions. ©

Lovingly, Karan

I Wonder…

“Blonde Logic”

Two blondes were driving through Louisiana when they came to a sign that told them they were almost to Natchitoches. They argued all the way there about how to pronounce the name of the town.  Finally they stopped for lunch.  After getting their food, one of the blondes said to the cashier, “Can you settle an argument for us? Very slowly, tell us where we are.” The cashier leaned over the counter and said “Buuurrrrrr-Gerrrrrr Kiiiinnnnnggg”.

Blonde Logic

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get it started.” He asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?”

The blonde says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a tiger.” Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, looks at the box, then turns to her and says, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger.”

He takes her hand and says, “Second, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea and then…” he sighs…”Let’s put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box.”

Brave

sub & dad 2

Brave reminds me of the day I watched my husband and my son-in-law walk ahead of my daughter and I towards the restaurant for an early morning breakfast. I still remember the feeling I had knowing this would be our last breakfast together for a while. Our brave soldier would be leaving for a 15-month deployment to Iraq.

My heart filled with respect and admiration as I looked at this fine young man, and wondered what would cause a person to volunteer so freely to serve his country and willingly go into harm’s way for others.  To stand and fight for people he does not know so they can enjoy safety and freedom too.  Is it the brave determination of character to serve God and to do what is right because he loves his country and family?

They say “Freedom is never free,” but there is always a price… physically, mentally and emotionally.

camelI am humbled and honored to say  thank you to the brave soldiers who fight for my peace and freedom.

In this moment I also am overwhelmed as I remember that Christ did the same for me. He freely gave himself for me.©

Christ paid a price I could never pay to give me life I did not deserve”.  I am loved and blessed.

Thank You to all who serve, I am praying for you!

Lovingly, Karan
